2011 PENINSULA CO-OP CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC A SUCCESS!
“It was the perfect day to raise funds for the services provided by the Victoria Epilepsy and Parkinson’s Centre,” said Pat Fafard, CEO of Peninsula Co-op.
Among the day’s many highlights was a helicopter ball drop on the 18th green and the shotgun send off by Alf Todd, who spoke eloquently about his personal experience living with Parkinson's. This year’s tournament raised almost $40,000 and a cheque was presented to the Victoria Epilepsy and Parkinson’s Centre Board Chair David Medler, and Executive Director Catriona Johnson.
“These funds allow us to serve people across their lifespan,” Johnson said. “From the family of the infant with unexplained seizures to the senior with Parkinson’s, these funds will help us provide counselling, education and support.”
Still in the glow of this year’s event, Fafard extends an invitation to golfers to next year’s tournament: “We are extremely proud of the loyalty of sponsors and our golfers who register year after year and support this worthy cause.”
